Familiar to discriminating audiences, soprano Judith Bruno has been praised for her lovely ringing soprano, sensitive interpretations, and compelling characterizations.  As a singer and actress, she has performed leading roles in professional productions across the US.

As an artist educator, she has taught at East Carolina University, William Peace College, and Saint Mary’s School.  Judie also maintains a vibrant private studio which is open to  singers of any age and experience level.  She strives to provide a nurturing environment where instruction is tailored to meet each individual singer's goals. This includes preparing singers for auditions for everything from elite music schools and top music theater programs to high school and community theaters and choirs.

Her students have been accepted to such esteemed institutions as Eastman, Indiana, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Oberlin, Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, Florida State, Carnegie Mellon, UNCSA, UNCG, Shenandoah Conservatory, and NYU (Tisch).  Her students are regularly accepted to the NC Governor's School and NCMEA Honor's Chorus as well as offered lead roles in school and community productions.

As an active member of the North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), her students routinely place in the classical, music theater and pop audition categories and also qualify for regional and national competition.

Currently, she serves on the faculty of Campbell University where she teaches Voice, Sight Singing/Ear Training, Music Appreciation, and directs the Campbell University Opera Theater.

Most recently, she has presented popular workshops throughout the southeast on such topics as straw phonation technique and song analysis.

As a full scholarship student at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, she was rigorously trained in the art and science of classical voice.
However, she is equally at home teaching a functionally
based approach to contemporary commercial (CCM)
vocal styles. She earned a level III certification in
Somatic Voicework - The LoVetri Method,
from Shenandoah Conservatory.

So whether it’s an aria from Carmen,a song from
Mean Girls, or the latest hit by Ariana Grande, Judie
can help you sing freely and expressively without
tension or strain.

Get to know The Academy

Academy students regularly place at the distric level National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions and score so high that they are invited to the Regional auditions. On the regional level of NATS, several students of mine have gone on to place and receive scholarships from this highly competitive auditon program.

My singers regularly qualify to participate in the prestigious NCMEA Honors Chorus and NC Governor’s School. I work with students of all musical intrests including singer songwriters, Grammy Camp attendees, and singers who have been accepted to some of the finest collegiate programs in the country for contemporary commercial music including the Berklee School of Music. I have prepared singers to audition and be accepted into some of the top music schools in the nation including Eastman School of Music, New England Conservatory, Florida State, Carnegie Mellon, UNCSA, UNCG, Shenandoah Conservatory, and NYU (Tisch).

I teach my students effective, practical tools not only for practice but for performance. The continued application of these tools translates into academy students receiving lead roles in musical productions from the school level, to community theater, to professional productions.
